Who can benefit from using driving aids?
Driving aids are beneficial for many people with reduced mobility, limited dexterity, physical disabilities and limb amputations who want to retain or regain their independence behind the wheel.
Can driving aids be used in any type of vehicle?
Our driving aids can be fitted into hundreds of different cars ranging from hatchbacks, people carriers, SUV’s and others. For specific vehicle compatibility, we always recommend contacting our team to check and confirm.
Is specialist training required to use driving aids?
To operate some driving aids such as hand controls and pedal adaptations, you may require additional tuition from a driving instructor to become fully proficient with them. There are specialist disability driving instructors throughout the UK to assist you.
What types of driving aids are available?
We supply a wide range of driving aids including; hand controls, pedal adaptations, secondary control devices and steering aids, all of which allow you to enjoy a safer and more comfortable driving experience.
How can I learn more about driving aids and which ones are right for me?
To find out what type of driving aids you require, you can book a disability driving assessment where an experienced occupational therapist and approved driving instructor will introduce you to a range of driving adaptations and conduct a thorough assessment.
Will using a driving aid affect my car insurance?
Because driving aids are vehicle adaptations and NOT performance modifications, they should not affect your car insurance. However, we do advise that you notify your car insurance as it’s down to their individual policies.
Do driving aids require regular maintenance?
Although it is not a requirement, we do advise that your driving aids are serviced every 12 months to ensure it is in top working condition. Please get in touch with us to arrange yours.
Do I need to inform the DVLA?
If you require driving adaptations to control a vehicle, you must inform the DVLA, as codes must be added to your driving licence.
