As a National Trust member, Mr Strange enjoys visiting beautiful locations across the UK. Unfortunately, due to a recent diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, he was struggling to get out and about independently.

After looking at potential solutions he bought a mobility scooter, which
enabled him to leave his flat confidently and safely. But without a hoist, he was
limited to his local neighbourhood and shops.

“I bought a scooter that can be dismantled and put in the boot of a car, but I’d done this a couple of times and it was making me dizzy.”

After seeing a poster advertising the Autochair Boot Hoist, Mr Strange contacted us to find out more.

“I explained to a member of your team what my needs were and what type of car and mobility scooter I had. They confirmed compatibility and even sent me an image of it in the back of an identical car. I placed the order and within a couple of weeks it was installed.”

“I didn’t waste any time, I booked a weekend away in a hotel so I could explore different National Trust sites. I was able to just whizz about on my scooter. It’s made my life so much easier.”

“I’ve since been able to visit Southend-on-Sea and Great Yarmouth. It’s really nice just going along the seafront, experiencing all that’s there and enjoying some fish and chips. I’m even planning a trip to Wales in a few weeks to visit some family, which I wouldn’t have been able to do before.”

Not only has the scooter and boot hoist enhanced his life but it’s provided peace of mind for his family.

“My family are much less worried about me now with my scooter and hoist as I’m not liable to collapse while walking around. Neither do I have to rely on them to take me out. I can do the shopping myself now, which I couldn’t have done before. It just gives me that extra degree of freedom.”

“I would 100% recommend the hoist for someone in a similar situation. Without it I’d probably just be sitting in my chair at home, staring at the TV.”
