Behind The Scenes of Car S.O.S Season 12 | Adapting Golf GTi Mk2
As BraunAbility’s UK exclusive distributor, we were honoured to help them out and supply Car S.O.S with the Carony seating system that they donated to Darren, to help him get seated easily and enjoy his newly restored car!
The wheelchair Carony seat works in conjunction with a car swivel seat base to allow Darren to get seated into his car and out again whilst remaining in his seat, removing any requirement of lifting or a manual transfer. This adaptation is part of the incredible restoration of this classic VW Golf GTI Mk2 by Tim Shaw, Fuzz Townshend and the amazing team at Car SOS. Our BraunAbility Technical Expert, Jamie Pollard, was also on hand to provide expert knowledge and installation advice.
Tim Shaw recently opened up about his personal connection to this restoration and has shared: “That’s one of the highlights of my entire career, working on Car S.O.S. To see someone get in and out in seconds.”
Check out all the behind the scenes footage and ensure you tune into the full episode Thursday 25th April at 8pm on National Geographic UK (available on Sky and Virgin Media).
Take a look at BraunAbility’s website for more information about their Swivel Seats and the Carony Classic Wheelchair System.
